This is an announcement *and* a reminder that this Saturday, July 15th, is the next TALUG meeting. Being the third Saturday of the month, this will have a more advanced topic and will be held at Stautzenberger College by Southwyck Mall. Loren Weith, our good friend who has been educating himself in the Netherlands is back this month and will regale us with a presentation entitled "Smashing the Stack for Fun and Profit". He will focus on how to exploit buffer overflow and string format vulnerabilities in software. Of course, this is for educational purposes only. We do not encourage the use of this knowledge for illegal activities. It can be very useful when you forget the root password to your own box, though... A flyer has been posted to the website. If you have access to a nice geeky place to hang it, please print one out and help to publicize for the LUG. Any extra time will be used for a geek-out (mill around, fix stuff, hack, play, talk, whatever). There will most assuredly be an outing to a local eatery afterward. See you there! ============================================ TALUG Meeting Announcement ============================================ Topics: "Smashing the Stack for Fun and Profit": how to exploit buffer overflows and format string vulnerabilities When: Saturday, May 20th 2:00pm - 5:00pm Where: Stautzenberger College 5355 Southwyck Blvd Toledo, OH 43614 Who: Presented by the Toledo Area Linux Users Group Open to the public *** Linux distributions on CD will *** *** be available FREE of charge! *** *** Be sure to request in advance: *** *** http://talug.org/freecds ***
