Hi, everyone. Time to get the "advanced" track rolling again... The January 2006 third-Saturday meeting (1/21) will be the first in a series on package managers. This series should be geared more toward the advanced/experienced users and will continue on successive third Saturdays. For Part I, we will have a very brief (5-10 minutes) demonstration of why we need package managers. Then, we will have Josh Locklear presenting the various Slackware package managers and the Arch package manager and Abdul (QoD) presenting klik, the new OSX-like package manager. If there's time and interest, we could also try to squeeze in Gentoo's Portage system (emerge). Then there should be time left for discussion and socializing. Part II (2/18) will hopefully give us a chance to delve into the more mainstream package managers (rpm, dpkg/apt, etc.). I hope to see you there! ======================================================================= TALUG Meeting Announcement ======================================================================= Topics: Linux Package Managers (Part I) - Why we need package managers - Slackware package managers - Arch package manager (pacman) - klik - Gentoo's emerge (?)
