It's been a while since we've had a meeting that just focused on introducing new Linux users to the basics. So, I'm resurrecting the series of presentations that I made back in 2003/2004 and trying to improve upon them. If you want to get an idea what this series is going to be like, you can review the notes from those meetings: http://www.talug.org/events/20031030/ http://www.talug.org/events/20031122/ http://www.talug.org/events/20040107/ Stautzenberger has given us the use of one of their computer classrooms with 16 machines. We will boot up the latest KNOPPIX on each system so everyone has the ability to experiment and practice throughout the meeting. (And there'll be at least 16 copies of KNOPPIX to take home!) The description says "audience-directed" and I mean that. I will start off with the absolute basics about files and directories, but I mostly want you to learn what *you* *want* to learn. So, questions are encouraged and I'm sure no matter where we end up, we'll all be more informed than when we started. :-) So, save the date (May 21st!) and I'll see you there! ======================================================================== TALUG Meeting Announcement ======================================================================== Topics: Interactive Beginner's Intro to Linux Basics - Audience-directed exploration - Hands-on experience - Free booklets with exercises When: Saturday, May 21, 2005 2:00pm - 5:30pm Where: Stautzenberger College Room 211 5355 Southwyck Blvd Toledo, OH 43614 Who: Presented by the Toledo Area Linux Users Group (TALUG) Open to the general public *** Linux distributions on CD will be available FREE of charge. *** *** Be sure to request in advance!
